Numerator

In a division operation in Excel, the numerator is the number or expression written before the forward slash ( / ) such as = 5 / 4. In this case, the "5" is the numerator.

In a common fraction, such as 1 / 2, the numerator is the number above the line - in this case "1" is the numerator.
