Formatting for date

  1. Select cells B12.
  2. Choose Format > Cells from the menu to open the Format Cells dialog box.

With the Format Cells dialog box open:

Note: For help on these steps, refer to the image above.

  1. Click on the Number Tab (circled in red in the image above).
  2. Select Date in the Category Window.
  3. Select *3/14/2001 in the Type Window.

  • When finished, Click OK at the bottom of the Format Cells dialog box.

  • We will be adding the date to cell B12 with the date function in Part 2 of this tutorial.
