Formatting for Commas

  1. Select cells B7 to C10 in the spreadsheet.
  2. Choose Format > Cells from the menu to open the Format Cells dialog box.

With the Format Cells dialog box open:

Note: For help on these steps, refer to the image above.

  1. Click on the Number Tab (circled in red in the image above)
  2. Select Number in the Category Window.
  3. Make sure that the Use 1000 Separator box is checked.
  4. Change the number of decimal places to 2.

  • When finished, Click OK at the bottom of the Format Cells dialog box.

  • We will be adding formulas to cells C7 to C10 with the deductions formula in Part 2 of this tutorial.
