Note: This tutorial can be used with all versions of Excel up to and including Excel 2007.

To unhide rows in a worksheet is Microsoft's term for displaying rows that were previously hidden.

Unhide Rows in an Excel Worksheet

To unhide a single row

For example, you want to unhide row 3.

  1. Place your mouse pointer in the row header and drag select to highlight rows 2 and 4.
  2. Right click on the selected rows.
  3. Choose Unhide from the menu.
  4. The hidden row and the row letter will be visible.

To unhide row 1 in the worksheet in Excel 2007

  1. Type the cell reference A1 in the Name Box and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  2. Click on the Home tab on the ribbon.
  3. Click on the Format icon on the ribbon to open the drop down list.
  4. Choose Hide & Unhide > Unhide Rows from the drop down list.
  5. Row 1 will become visible.

To unhide row 1 in the worksheet in Excel versions 97 to 2003

  1. Type the cell reference A1 in the Name Box and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
  2. Click on the Format menu.
  3. Choose Row > Unhide in the menu.
  4. Row 1 will become visible.

To unhide multiple Rows in the worksheet - all versions of Excel

For example, you want to unhide rows 2, 4, and 6.

  1. In the row header drag select to highlight rows 1 to 7.
  2. Right click on the selected rows.
  3. Choose Unhide from the menu.
  4. The hidden rows and the row letters will be visible.
