Step 1 - Choosing a Graph Type

Remember: What most of us call a bar graph is referred to, in Excel, as a column chart, or a bar chart.

Pick a Chart on the Standard Tab

  1. Pick a Chart type from the left panel

  2. Pick a chart sub-type from the right panel

Note: If you want to create graphs that are a bit more exotic, choose the Custom Types tab at the top of the Chart Type dialog box.

For this tutorial
(on the Standard Chart Types tab)

  1. Choose the Column chart type in the left hand pane.
  2. Choose the Clustered Column chart sub-type in the right hand pane.
  3. Click Next.
