Note - These instructions are designed for using the sample data shown in the table below, to accompany the instructions for the Step by Step Chart Wizard Tutorial
Method 1
- Drag the mouse pointer over the data to highlight it from "Location" to the number "63.5".
- Choose Edit > Copy from the menu in your web browser
- Open Excel
- Click on cell A3
- Choose Edit > Paste from the menu in Excel
Each piece of data should be pasted into a separate cell on the worksheet. The data should fill the range A3 to E12.
Don't worry that the formatting is not the same as in the picture in the chart wizard tutorial. When the tutorial is completed, the chart will look as it should. Nor do you need the heading for the table -- "Average Precipitation for World Cities" -- we aren't going to include that in our chart.
Method 2
If the data does not paste properly into cells A3 to E12, try these steps -- only the last two steps are different from the instructions above:
- Drag the mouse pointer over the data to highlight it from "Location" to the number "63.5".
- Choose Edit > Copy from the menu in your web browser.
- Open Excel.
- Click on cell A3.
- Choose Edit > Paste Special from the menu in Excel.
- Choose Paste as Text from the options in the dialog box.
