Microsoft Office 2007 Diagnostics is a group of tests that can be used to help correct errors in Microsoft Office files.
The diagnostic tests can correct some errors immediately. In other cases, it will give information on such things as your computers memory and hard drive, that can be used fix problems found on these devices.
The tests are:
- Setup Diagnostic - checks for corrupt files and registry settings related to Office 2007.
- Disk Diagnostic - checks for errors on your computer's hard drive.
- Memory Diagnostic - checks for errors in your computer's RAM memory.
- Update Diagnostic - checks for installed updates for Microsoft Office 2007.
- Compatibility Diagnostic - checks for conflicting versions of Microsoft Office Outlook.
- Check for known solutions - checks for known solutions related to Office 2007 crashes.
Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from within Excel
- Click the Microsoft Office button
- Click on the Excel Options button to bring up the Excel Options dialog box
- Click on the Resources button in the left hand pane
- Click on the Diagnose button in the right hand pane
- Click Continue
- Click Run Diagnostics
Running Microsoft Office Diagnostics from the Start Menu
In the event that you cant get Excel to run due to errors in the program, the Diagnostics program can be started from your computer's Start Menu. To do this:
- Click on the Start button in Microsoft Windows
- Use your mouse to point to All Programs to open the Programs menu
- Point to Microsoft Office folder in the menu to open it
- Point to Microsoft Office Tools folder to open it
- Click Microsoft Office Diagnostics to start the diagnostics program
- Click Continue
- Click Run Diagnostics
