The "conditional" part of conditional formatting means that you can control when and where specific formatting changes are applied.

If the data you have selected meets certain conditions, then the formatting change, such as changing the font color or altering the background color of a cell, occurs.

A great use for this feature is to find duplicate data such as duplicate names, dates, or formulas in large tables of data.
