Rounding Numbers in Excel

Rounding data in Excel is a very common task. As a result, Excel has a number of functions available to round numbers and each one does a slightly different job.

The ROUND function's job is to reduce or eliminate the decimal portion of a number.

One thing to note is that rounding actual changes the data and just doesn't alter the way it appears in the cell.

So while reducing the number of digits may make it easier to read the data, if used in calculations the rounded numbers will give different results from the original data.
