The ROUNDDOWN function in Excel is similar to the ROUND function in that it is often used to reduce the number of decimal places of data. How it differs is that it always rounds the last digit down to the lower number.
One thing to note is that unlike formatting options that allow you change the number of decimal places displayed, the ROUNDDOWN function actual alters the data in your worksheet and can, therefore, affect calculations.
