Nesting functions is a way to extend Excel's capabilities.

Nesting means to place one or more functions inside each other.

One of the most commonly nested functions in Excel is the IF function. Up to 64 IF functions can be nested together or it can be combined with other functions.

This dice roller tutorial is an example of using nested AND, IF, and OR functions to create a set of "working" dice in an Excel worksheet.

The nested functions control the number of dots that appear on the face of the dice when they are rolled.
