Excel 2007 ROUNDDOWN Function

Friday April 17, 2009
The ROUNDDOWN function in Excel is similar to the ROUND function in that it is often used to reduce the number of decimal places of data. How it differs is that it always rounds the last digit down to the lower number.

Rounding numbers often makes the data in your spreadsheets easier to understand.

To find out how to use this function, read the short article on the Excel 2007 ROUNDDOWN Function.

Hi Ted,
I usually use the TRUNC function to get rid of the decimal places.

Isn’t it actually the same as the ROUNDDOWN function you mention? And if not, can you pinpoint the differences and where is it more useful to use each function?

Thanks!
